This will just be an update page for anyone that wants to post anything to do with the olympics.
Because I live in Vancouver I find it pretty awesome having the olympics right at my door, but I also think all of the money could have gone to a much better cause. Opening ceremonies were insane.

I'm somewhat ashamed at my country for the errors they made during the opening ceremonies (the hydraulics not working for cauldron, the lack of security on foot for the torch relay from stadium to outdoor cauldron)

Wonder if anyone is going to get fired for that hydraulics issue.  Other than that, the opening ceremonies were amazing.  Not on par with Beijing, but that's not surprising.

Dont be embarressed.  I wasnt dissappointed. Things do happen and you just gotta let it go.  As for the security, that would have been a concern.  Other than that the Opening Ceremony was fabulous to me, the animation stuff whatever you call it was awesome.  My only dissappointment is why do we always see things last on the west coast when things are filmed live in our timezone and we have to wait while the rest of the USA gets to see it live. Its really not fair ! I had to wait until 9 pm to watch it and the  central to east coast had already seen it!

Ending ceremony was pretty intense but I wish some of those bands hadn't played and they had let others play. Plus glad that Canada owned the podium.

Yeah, because winning medals is what it's all about at the Olympics.

I'm sorry. Apparently I wasn't being sarcastic enough. I should have included this at the end of my post --->  Roll Eyes

So much for the glory of sport and the honor of their countries. And de Coubertin's vision.

Oh I knew you were being sarcastic but the Olympics happen to showcase countries athletes and compete, hence these are competitive games and are very much so about winning medals. Obviously they are also about uniting the world and bringing everyone together in something that practically everyone watches and enjoys.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse there.
