Plus remember that this site was down for a few months and I would imagine some of the members who used to frequent and post haven't come back to see the need for the reup, and I personally don't usually go back to threads I've already downloaded from unless I need to to give extra thanks or ask a question, so I know I wouldn't see a reup request.

Hi, just donated some cash through Paypal. I have no problem supporting an awesome site such as this. And feel that it is an honor to do so. It's the least we could do as members in support of all the admins who are in charge of this site. If we don't help, they pay out of their own pockets to keep the site going. A $20 donation pales in comparison to the total value of material that is available to the members on this site. If this site disappears, think of all the music, audiobooks, sermons, videos, ebooks, etc. you could have received but now have to pay for because you did not help out. In supporting this site, you are also sending a thank you to all who have spent countless hours uploading material they've purchased themselves just so you can point, click, and download whatever looks good to you, for free.

Thank You Christian Downloads for your great effort in keeping this site going!!!

Have you considered adding affiliate links and "buy now" links?  Amazon will give you a couple % from every sale you make.  Should be easy enough to code a script in to add the links when people add "buy now" links.

I don't know if that would expose the site to litigation by providing an increased incentive. A simple donation button could be arguably just to keep the discussion parts of the site online, but by linking revenue directly to provided downloads of questionable legality could possibly be seen as selling or profiting from illegal downloads. Just a thought, not an argument.

Bingo! We have a winner. As soon as someone gets a whiff that you're making some sort of profit tied to copyrighted content, they'll come down on you harder than an anvil on Daffy Duck's head.

Well, yes. Because they know that there's money there, and they (probably legitimately) would want a piece of it. As it stands now, I think we're a net benefit to Christian artists as their music gets spread more which in turn helps them sell concert tickets, shirts and yes, even albums if they turn out to be good enough to actually buy. But if we were to do this plan, to tie revenue directly to the downloads - that would basically be directly taking profits away from artists, which isn't what we're here for.
