Please tell me you're joking. It's just a larger version of the iPod Touch. Not to mention there is no multitasking, no gestures, no flash, no camera, no phone, no new OS. They didn't even get the name right. There is no way this will be anywhere near as successful as the iPod or iPhone.

after looking over the specs etc, it will have its niche market. It will NOT be the flop that AppleTV was, but it will not be as successful as the ipod.
i agree some of the features (or lack thereof) are kind of annoying, but within the niche market they will be going for, i am actually a good candidate.
Reasons:
I want an ebook reader (that does pdfs and ePub) I like some of the features of iTunes (although not all) for music I want it thin and easy to carry around. I want to be able to take notes and handle QUICK TASKS easily - i have my PC for photoshop and music recording needs.
The most important things it needs and lacks - - some sort of sticky note app. - a handwriting app and a supported stylus. I don't care about the iphone interface, something this big is SCREAMING to be written on!!!! - FLASH support!!!!!

Agreed.
Furthermore, what's with this 64GB data cap? I mean, c'mon. Looks like I'm going with the Archos with the 500GB HDD.

After checking out more details - it looks like you cant multitask.... meaning, you wont be able to "listen to pandora while working on a word processing doc or have your facebook app open while surfing the web" as one blog puts it.
This is a deal breaker for me - if I cant listen to music while I am using the ibooks feature, it is probably not the device for me. **this is where apple screwed this one up

ah, but you CAN multitask - albeit only with Apple's own apps. You could have internet radio playing in safari or be listening to your own music, then hit the home button, then continue to read or write or whatever. Oh, and there is multitouch, advanced gestures, and if Apple's iWork apps are any indication, there will be more powerful apps avaliable for the iPad than for iPhone/iPod touch.

It would be nice to have one but for the price and what you get it's not worth it. And I have an iPhone which fits in my pocket and I can read perfectly (granted I'm 19 lol)

The pricing is actually quite good, they are going in part for the ebook market, and comparing the lowest end iPad and the highest end kindle, they are the same price. And condiering a lot of the ebook I want to read are PDF files already, I would probably opt for the iPad....

before it was revealed i was hoping it would be like a mini version of the macbook instead of a large ipod touch. otherwise i would have considered buying it.

What's particularly laughable is the fact that Jobs said that netbooks are "slow" when the specs of the iPad don't come even close.

no flash support, as i hear. lol Ya that kind of sucks, I don't know why they wouldn't allow flash support. Because if they did allow flash, they would lose all their profits from their games apps sales. (Which I think it's the biggest market by far.)

The real problem with the iiPad has nothing to do with the specs. It has to do with private property. The iPad is defective by design. http://www.defectivebydesign.org/ipad
