I confess I am rather new here, but not new to these types of forums.  Is it acceptable that posters continually bump their own posts (duplicates at that) without someone else having replied yet, 3-4 times?  I'm trying to surf through the posts on this particular board and cannot keep up with all the bumping going on (aka Topman).  Does anyone moderate this forum?  Just curious.  It doesn't seem fair nor does it seem good ettiquette.

I am new as far as how often I have every logged in or been here.  I would appreciate others' thoughts - as far as the bumping of your posts.  I have posed the same question to a couple of moderators and hope to hear back from them.

Topman, this is a warning from a moderator.

KimmyBeth has a good point; and bumping your own thread (or double posting) is prohibited.

He would post "Wave of Wonder (WOW)" to his own posts to put them at the top of the list.

If it happens again, I'm recommending a temporary ban.

EDIT:

Wait a minute... You're both doing this? Can somebody please PM me and please tell me what the heck is going on!? This is ridiculous.

It is called bumping when you post in your own threads in order to keep them at the top (so you get more downloads/blessings). Of course it’s okay to reply to questions, discuss, say "you’re welcome". But it’s a whole other thing to post unsubstantial posts for the sole reason of getting attention.

I bumped some of my threads a while ago to save them from the pruning that was about to happen. I asked if it was okay for that reason though and a mod (don’t remember who) told me I could do that.

Personally I too think that overdone thread bumping is pretty annoying. The threads that are most important are likely to get the most response and will therefore automatically stay at the top. No bumping needed if you provide the right stuff.

I totaly agree. When you've got someone with many user names bumping their stuff! I'm glad this has come to light.

The only way to stop bumping though is for people who download to say thanks for the stuff they download. then the post would reflect the amount of downloads e.g. 53 downloads and only 2 people say thanks? There is another way that i'm going to try and thats only supply the passwords to people who say thanks.

God Bless

Hey,

i am not trying to claim a saint here, but i have never posted anything on this forum for the sake of making it be at the top or to get blessings,no.

i have never thot of something like this before, i participate in jibba - jabba, there nothing wrong doing this, because we all know it doesnt count in the no of post.

if anyone does that for that purpose, i think it is not proper.

I don't really care where my posts end up.  I'm only on this forum sporadically.  Topman, Kimmybeth is actually my sister - so I don't know what your deal is, or who you are accusing of multiple identities, but you are out of line.  My sis was out of line, too - I recommended that she join this forum.  We are 1200 miles apart and it also is a great way for me to share with my friends (and family) without having to mail them cd's and DVD's.  But thanks to the negativity in this thread, I doubt she'll participate any more.

Let's play nicely, please?
