Half Past Horrible

These long words I hear in piano keys
My love rests among those notes
You see that hole they tiptoe over?
I lept
These books you gave me
These wonderful words you sent me
Oh, you seem to understand
Would you but hold my hand
But you don’t know I know you don’t know
Do you understand?
My works are always half past horrible
But you never understood
Never cared
Never saw the romanticism and my passion for these words
Would you but smell so wonderful
Were you but warm
Were you but comforting
If you could dry tears
Would that people were like books or music notes?
Everything would be beautiful
To me, if no one else
I would be content with the ramblings of this old professor
One who know much yet spoke little
Unlike other people
And all these thoughts were always half past horrible
You never understood
Never cared
Why you wouldn’t hold my hand
This loneliness erodes me
I tiptoe around this hole
Don’t let the chasm have me
You couldn’t help me
Oh, would that these words were happy
But then they would be lies
And I would be the liar
