I tried it out and liked it but some of my factory installed programs (like my built-in webcam software) went missing and it wouldn't let me reinstall them. I'm just going to do a factory restore and stick with Vista for a little while.
that's odd..if its an issue with drivers, you could probably download them off your manufacturer's website. There also might be updated versions that are compatible with windows 7..often for programs that won't install the solution is simply editing the windows version number in the config file. (Windows 2000 is NT Version 5.0, Windows XP NT 5.1, Vista NT 6.0, Windows 7 NT 6.1)

So I got Windows 7 (build 7100) and I must say I'm liking it. None of my programs crash unlike in Vista lol.

i've not had a problem with vista, well some time ie does not respond, but no doubt now that windows 7 is released, vista will "start" to have problems.

oh yeah I love Windows 7 RC so far. It runs great on my netbook. MS offered Win7 upgrades starting at $49 for home premium that ran until July 12th, (it is $99 from now on), but I am so gonna downoad Windows 7 RTM when it is released later this month.

I started using it when the beta first was available to download, back then I found it hardly usable now it is alright it seems definitely more polished and integrated.

No, I am not mistaken. RTM hadn't been officially signed off on until July 26th, to the best of my recollection. We now know that the RTM build is 6.1.7600.1635, which was compiled on July 13th, and released to MSDN/Technet subscribers/Beta testers on August 6th, and released to OEMs last week.

Math Input Panel...I have no idea what this is. used with wacom tablets?? I remember vista had the same thing when i used my wacom. Question. If you need clean install for 7, does that mean you can't select partition? So if I'm running Vista+Fedora+Ubuntu I need to start from sratch? or can i just select my vista partition/upgrade vista??? cheers,

If you are installing Windows 7 on the same hard drive that other operating systems are using then you need to add another partition. Also, if you are using the Windows boot loader, the rule of thumb is to install the older operating systems first so that they will show up in the boot list.
edit: I don't know if you can upgrade Vista with the RC version of Windows 7. And I don't know if the full version of the RTM release will upgrade Windows Vista either. Maybe Microsoft has a specific upgrade version for those who want to upgrade Vista without paying the full price of the latest OS.

I guess that explains it. Thanks dude. I prefer a clean install over an upgrade though. Over time the registry collects a lot of baggage, wanted and unwanted.

and I'm telling you that at that time and moment, the build was not offically signed off as RTM. It takes a couple of days for a build to pass through all the checkpoints and be voted as RTM.

In Windows 7 32-Bit, the maximum RAM recognized is 3.2GB. In Windows 7 64-Bit, the limit is (theoretically)192GB. This is true for all 32 and 64 bit OSes, whether they be Unix, Linux, Windows, or Mac.

This is true for all 32 and 64 bit OSes, whether they be Unix, Linux, Windows, or Mac. You can hack Vista 32 bit to recognize 4gb RAM through the command prompt. I did it myself a while ago, but I can't remember. I assume you might be able to do the same with Windows 7.
